UCI Paints was a dream of founder Sy Devick, who began manufacturing lacquers and other industrial coatings in East Patterson, New Jersey. After relocating to South Florida in 1969, Sy knew he needed a different chemical composition for his paints to combat the region’s mildew, algae, and tropical climate.
In 1970, Sy began manufacturing “architectural coatings” in Fort Lauderdale, formulated specially to outperform national brand paints not made for use in the tropics.
In 1977, Sy’s son Richard Devick joined the company and since then, UCI Paints has built an outstanding reputation for manufacturing the finest quality coatings for Florida‘s unique climate. We are proud to be a 3rd generation company, as Richard’s son Sam has been working at UCI since 2015.
In an industry where large national brands dominate, UCI Paints has built its reputation by doing things differently. We manufacture our own paints right here in Fort Lauderdale, formulated specifically for Florida's heat, humidity, and salt air. Founder
Before opening UCI Paints, founder Sy Devick owned a successful paint manufacturing company in New Jersey that specialized in high-performance coatings, some of which were even used by NASA. In the late 60's, Florida's warm tropical climate lured Sy into moving his family South. Using his expertise and experience as a paint manufacturer, he established UCI Paints and began to specifically formulate paints made to last in Florida's sun and humidity.

Today, Sy's son Richard carries on UCI's commitment to excellence by continuing to manufacture superior paint products that are built to last in South Florida. Since joining the company in 1977, Richard has expanded UCI's operations during his time as company President.

As founder Sy Devick’s grandson, Sam Devick proudly maintains the family’s commitment to quality and customer service at UCI Paints. Before joining UCI Paints, Sam attended Florida Atlantic University, and he graduated in 2020 with a degree in business management.
